edTPA Pilot

Guidance for edTPA Pilot Participants

Texas candidates must use this website, the Texas Educator Certification Examination Program website, to access all materials, register for edTPA, and submit their edTPA portfolios.
Review information related to the impact of COVID-19 on the edTPA pilot.

Texas educator candidates from educator preparation programs (EPPs) participating in the edTPA pilot will use this website to:

register for an edTPA assessment
access and download their assessment handbooks and templates
submit their teaching portfolios
access their assessment scores

Candidates can begin to prepare for the pilot by reviewing edTPA policies and assessment resources. Learn more about the edTPA pilot.

Format

The performance assessments consist of three tasks* representing a cycle of effective teaching:

Task 1: Planning for Instruction and Assessment
Task 2: Instructing and Engaging Students in Learning
Task 3: Assessing Student Learning

Submission and Reporting Dates

Review the submission deadlines and associated reporting dates for the edTPA pilot.

Passing Score

Successful completion is defined as a scorable portfolio, which includes receiving no more than one condition code PDF

per task.

$311

Score Reporting

Candidates will receive their scores by 10:00 p.m. Central time on the score report dates. Educator Preparation Programs (EPPs) may access candidates' scores 24 hours after candidates receive scores in ResultsAnalyzer® as indicated on the score report dates.

edTPA is intended to be integrated with other teacher candidate assessments such as clinical evaluations, embedded signature assessments, and content knowledge examinations to guide and support program improvement, inform program completion, or as a metric for initial licensure. Since the following Texas certifications areas are not standalone or initial certificate areas, the certification areas are not included in the above alignment table:

*In addition to the three tasks, the edTPA Elementary Education: Literacy with Mathematics Task 4 assessment includes a fourth task (Assessing Students’ Mathematics Learning) requiring candidates to analyze their students' learning in mathematics and teach a re-engagement lesson that addresses their students' learning needs.
